Post Serious question for Republicans
Are you a Republican due to your religious views?

Or

Are you a Republican because of your economical views?

I’m trying to generate serious debate here.

I am republican due to my social, governmental and economic views.

I tend to agree with blingbling.
However, I consider myself more of a conservative, with some Libertarian leanings, than a Republican.

For example, I am both pro-choice, and pro-death penalty. I also believe that either should be initiated ONLY in extreme cases, and that legal and/or medical restrictions be made strict enough to prevent abuse or mistakes in the use of either.

I think I am in agreement, for the most part, with Snuss. I am pro-life except in the case of incest and rape. I am also pro - death only in murder cases that there are credible eye witnesses or confessions.

I agree with Snuss position on abortion and the death penalty. If, you were president what route would you take to deal with our government woes and our economical problems? I have some ideas that I will post later on today, and I would like your honest opinion.

For a start, I wouldn't quadruple our debt. I would cut non-essential government services, and reduce both capital gains and business taxes, to promote business growth.

History has shown that government cannnot spend it's way out of a recession. The only entity that can spend it's way out of a recession is the american people. First, I would not increase the tax on small business. I would offer incentives to those willing to take the risk of starting their own business. Second, I would stop printing money and spending money. Inflation is right around the corner. Instead of the increased spending of the current administration, I would drastically cut the federal income tax for a year.
